ITC awards Cyber Saber Hackathon 2019 winners

Forty-six men and 80 women participated in the Cyber Saber Hackathon, held alongside the 7th Middle East and North Africa Information Security Conference (MENAISC) 2019 at Crowne Plaza Riyadh RDC Hotel & Convention.

Integrated Telecom Company (ITC) honored the winners. The winning team Blackfoxs, with participants from several universities, was awarded SR25,000 ($6,710) while rm rf from King Abdul Aziz University was awarded SR15,000 after coming second. IAU_ROOT from Imam Abdulrahman bin Faisal University was awarded SR10,000 for coming in the third place.

SEU_Rang3rs from the Saudi Electronic University came in the fourth place and won a prize of SR10,000, while SubSeven and p0pUps, both from Imam Abdulrahman bin Faisal University, came in the fifth and sixth places respectively, winning a prize of SR10,000 each.

Ghassan Itani, CEO of ITC, sponsor of the hackathon, said: “Being a technology company, we believe that the future will be more connected, integrated and smarter, which presents an added IT security challenge, which we must be prepared for.”

“It is for this reason that we sponsored the Cyber Saber Hackathon as it represented an exciting opportunity for students to apply what they learned and gain new and hands-on experiences,” he added.

Samer Omar, CEO of VirtuPort — organizer of the Cyber Saber Hackathon, said the third edition of the hackathon witnessed a strong competition among Saudi students from both public and private universities.
